What this is for

Pain that doesn't shift with the usual rest-ice-anti-inflammatory routine often involves underlying inflammation, poor circulation, or restricted tissue. LLLT and Therapeutic Ultrasound target all three. Common reasons people book:

  • Sports injuries — sprains, strains, soft-tissue tears
  • Tendinopathies — Achilles, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, plantar fasciitis
  • Joint pain — knees, shoulders, hips, wrists, ankles
  • Back and neck pain — including muscular tension and old injuries
  • Chronic pain — long-standing inflammation that hasn't fully resolved
  • Recovery from minor falls or knocks, particularly in older adults
  • Postnatal aches — back, hips and wrists from feeding and carrying

How LLLT and Therapeutic Ultrasound help

  • LLLT reduces local inflammation and stimulates cellular repair, helping tissue heal faster
  • Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to increase circulation, ease muscle tension, and reduce pain
  • Combined, they often achieve in 3–6 sessions what would take much longer to resolve on its own

Both modalities are gentle, painless, and require no needles, drugs or downtime.

What a session looks like

  • Brief history — when it started, what aggravates it, what's been tried
  • Functional check — range of motion, tender points, movement patterns
  • LLLT applied over the affected area (10–15 min)
  • Therapeutic ultrasound where appropriate
  • Gentle hands-on techniques
  • Home advice — what to do, what to avoid, when to expect change
No drugs or needles No downtime Mobile or clinic RN-led

When this isn't the right fit

LLLT and Therapeutic Ultrasound are great for tissue-level pain — inflammation, soft tissue injury, scar restriction. They aren't a replacement for:

  • Acute medical issues — chest pain, severe trauma, suspected fractures (go to ED)
  • Nerve root pain — usually better managed by physiotherapy or a GP first
  • Structural issues requiring imaging or surgical opinion

Hayley will tell you honestly if your situation is outside what LLLT can help, and where to go next.

Common questions

How quickly will I feel a difference?

Many people feel some reduction in pain after the first session, though it varies. For chronic issues, 3–6 sessions is a more realistic expectation for meaningful change.

Can I combine this with physio?

Absolutely. LLLT and physio complement each other well — LLLT addresses inflammation and tissue healing, physio addresses movement patterns and strengthening. Many clients see both.

Do you treat older patients?

Yes — LLLT is particularly gentle and suitable for older adults who can't tolerate manual therapy or who want to avoid anti-inflammatory medications.

Is this covered by private health?

Some health funds reimburse nursing consultations under "extras" cover — check with yours. A receipt is provided.

Not sure if it'll help?

Free 15-min phone consult.
