What this is for
Post-operative LLLT and Therapeutic Ultrasound are well-suited to recovery from a wide range of procedures, including:
- Caesarean section — wound healing, scar softening, abdominal sensitivity
- Perineal repair after vaginal birth — tearing, episiotomy recovery
- General surgical scars — laparoscopic, abdominal, knee, shoulder, hand
- Cosmetic and breast surgery recovery
- Older scars that are still tight, raised, sensitive or restricting movement
If you've had surgery and the healing has stalled — or you simply want to give it the best chance — this is worth a conversation.
How it works
LLLT and Therapeutic Ultrasound work together to support every layer of healing.
- LLLT (photobiomodulation) stimulates mitochondria in cells to produce more energy, which accelerates tissue repair, reduces inflammation and helps remodel scar tissue
- Therapeutic ultrasound uses mechanical sound waves to break down dense scar fibres, increase local circulation, and improve tissue elasticity
Together they shorten recovery time, soften scars, and reduce that "tight, restricted" feeling many people get post-surgery.
What a session looks like
- Assessment of the scar / surgical site (range of motion, tissue quality, pain pattern)
- LLLT applied around and across the scar, usually 10–15 minutes
- Therapeutic ultrasound where appropriate
- Gentle scar mobilisation techniques you can continue at home
- Home-care plan and progress tracking
Pricing
Mobile visits within 30 km of Palm Beach are included. Beyond that, a $35 travel surcharge applies.
When to start
Most surgical scars are ready for LLLT and gentle scar work from two weeks post-op, once the wound has closed and you're cleared by your surgeon. For older scars (months or years old), there's no upper limit — significant softening is still possible.
Common questions
How soon after surgery can I start?
Generally from two weeks post-op once the wound has closed and you're cleared by your surgeon. Hayley will confirm during your initial consult.
Will it hurt?
No. LLLT is completely painless — most people feel nothing, or a gentle warmth. Therapeutic ultrasound feels like a slight tingle. Sessions are designed around your comfort.
How many sessions will I need?
For recent surgical scars, a 6-pack over 4–6 weeks usually gets the best result. Older scars may take longer to remodel but visible change typically starts within 3–4 sessions.
Can you come to my home?
Yes — especially helpful in the early weeks post-op when driving and movement are still uncomfortable. Free travel within 30 km of Palm Beach.
